Mark and I began drinking about the same time, although he was almost three years my senior. He was about seventeen and I was fourteen. It all started out so innocently. About three or four years later, it started to be a habit with us to drive down to Ruston Way, in our hometown of Tacoma, Washington. Ruston Way was a secluded spot back then, in 1970, before it was the mecca it is today. There, we would guzzle down a quart of beer each. We had fun. It wasn’t too long after, we proclaimed to each other, “it seems to take more beer to get drunk,” as we were now bringing down a half-case of beer, and later a case. Those words still haunt me today as I reflect back to the earlier days of our habits we shared.

words of inspiration for someone fighting addiction Before starting this process, you must be prepared to set healthy boundaries and stay strong. Helping a loved one with addiction is very different from helping a loved one with any other illness. Anything that you do in order to ease his pain will only extend the disease making it stronger. As long as you are going to be there to hold his hand, bail him out, fix his mistakes, and make life easier, he will never see the need to fight his disease.

Let us be more social: Come out of your shell and see the world outside and observe their problems and miseries and realist how small is our own hurt and misery.

Golden Rule # 5, Enlist the support of your family but realize they cannot be your only support. Addiction is a family disease and they may have their own issues to work on such as anger, enabling or codependency. You may accomplish this by opening communication with them and setting some limits and boundaries. You need to work on your issues. They need to work on theirs. They may help but cannot take them on and solve them. This may make a difference to you as it empowers your own recovery and is a method to keep you accountable.

The drugs include street drugs and abused medical drugs that require a prescription. But 93.6% of the 23 million don’t even think they need treatment. My customers aren’t hiring. Neither am I. I’ve written about this before. Our economy is going to be stuck at 10% unemployment for a while. This is bad for all those unemployed people. And it’s also bad for my business. Unemployed people don’t spend money. And when money isn’t being spent, my customers don’t make as much money. And they certainly don’t expand. So, relapse. relapse symptoms while they’re happy to pay to cover the cost of their operations, they’re much less inclined to make the capital investments (which in my case means software) to meet the needs of their business.

words of encouragement for sobriety There are literally millions of people who are taking various anticoagulants including aspirin to help thin the blood to prevent heart attacks. If the blood is less “sticky” then it is less likely to clump together causing a stroke or heart attack.

The number two method to overcoming this crisis is to run away from drugs and substance abuse as much as possible. To put in another way, you have to get rid of drugs or substances you are inclined to abuse from your residence. Running away from them will help your immunity. On the other hand if you still keep one or two of them around you or still associate with your addicted friends, you are liable to go back. Thence, the best way out is to keep away from them at all cost. It will be encouraging to tell your friends of your choice to quit so that they can keep an eye on you.
