Never invest money that you might need short term, and plan ahead. Unexpected expenses are pse, you have to be able to jump in for the long-term recovery.always possible, such as replacing a boiler, a major repair to the roof, change a car…
In 2008 my comfortable life was about to change drastically. My 2nd wife and I were going through troubles in our relationship that eventually led to a divorce. She moved out and I dove into my work, recovery meetings, service work, and softball. This was my way signe of addiction dealing with life at that time. My son and his mom (my 1st wife) left me several years earlier and moved back to Southern California. I used to visit him a few times a year, but didn’t want to leave the beautiful northwest environment of Oregon and my wonderful job as a design engineer. I had a great little home, friends in recovery, and purpose in life of helping others. Something was about to change all the perceptions I had believed to be true, but was in fact, just an illusion.
This best way to handle this situation is to seek help from an addiction recovery therapist, specialized in couple’s counseling as well. He or she will help you and your partner to lead a happier free of codependence life. Self realization in an addict is a key for steady improvement.
words of inspiration for sobriety The great lie of addiction is that there is no hope and that the addict is “too addicted”, “too bad” or “too evil” to deserve a positive and healthy life, sober from the chains of addiction. That is simply a lie. We have seen addicts in the deepest despair and chasms of their addictions find happiness and sobriety. There is hope! This hope comes by coming out of the dark and taking those first steps towards recovery. Trust us…you are not by yourself. Millions suffer from the bonds of these addictions.
However, we may tend to carry this instinct (avoid rejection at all costs) over into our adult life in a way that does not help us create healthy relationships.
words of encouragement for sobriety Who else but God can be with all the time? Many of you have difficult histories with God and religion. Many of you are angry at God or feel so blocked that a relationship with a personal God seems impossible. Some of you just don’t believe in God or don’t have any conception of what He really is. The 12-steps will guide you through a process that will help you to open yourself again to a power much greater than yourself. You need God’s help and he loves you regardless of what you have or haven’t done. I believe this. Wouldn’t you like to believe this? Jump in the cold pool. It will warm up.
words of inspiration for someone fighting addiction This wasn’t the first time this has happened, but it was the second to the last of his grand finale. Mark was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver in the early ’90s. His doctor, then, said “one more drink will kill you.” He was prescribed various medications to halt the progression, and afterwards, his yellow-colored skin would improve greatly. And when it did, he would begin to drink some more. Mark was the type of chronic alcoholic, that if he were gifted a new liver from a generous donor, he would celebrate the event by getting drunk and stay drunk. He was hooked on every kind of alcohol imaginable. He even admitted to me, that when he was out of booze, he would drink after shave lotion and mouthwash if it had alcohol in it. His choice was not beer, liquor was quicker.
Finances will most likely be a big factor in making a decision. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 22.2 million Americans are addicted to drugs or alcohol, but ninety percent fail to receive treatment. Studies show that the number one obstacle is cost. It’s a sad fact that many families spend every bit of savings they have, including mortgaging their homes or draining retirement and college funds, in an attempt to save their loved ones.
